Concern about the state of our health and social care services

Social care is hot on the agenda of all the political parties especially when their is a general election dawning. But it is clear to see that the public are clearly concerned about the state of the health and social care sector.

Social care services are run by local authorities. Depending on where you live local authorities run social care services in different ways compared to Scotland, Wales, England and Northern Ireland, for example, someone’s viability to receive social care from local authorities is means tested based on savings and assets, local authorities in Scotland use a different system.

One talking point is how much should the threshold be in savings and assets before someone qualifies to receive social care. In England and Northern Ireland if someone has assets and savings less than £23,250 then they would qualify for social care, in Wales it is £24,000.

Through July and August this year we have talked about the effects Brexit is having on the health and social care sector. Over the past three years the time in the chamber in the House of Commons has been dominated by foreign affairs mainly Brexit, this means that there is far less time to debate how to reform and fix social care services in the UK, and this can have a long term affect and social care services deteriorating further still.

Senior experts have said that politicians cannot afford to neglect the pressures that the health and social care sector are under. The council-run systems are in desperate need of reform and new funding solutions, experts have repeatedly said that past government’s have failed to address the issues raised.

ProCare Nursing are here to deliver first class health and social care services

We understand that local authorities are under pressure. However, ProCare Nursing are here to support local authority providing care workers that deliver high standards of care to service users across South Wales and all over the area of Cardiff.

We have our own training department ProCare Training Cymru.

We have been monitoring all of the events of Brexit for the past 3 months, what it means for the health and social care sector for Wales, and debating whether the Brexit debate is harming health and social care services.

Sara Wells is a senior care support worker and focuses on working with people who have Mental Health conditions. Sara has been trained by our training department and in 2017 walked away with the “Excellence in Dementia Care Award” at the Wales Care Awards. This clearly shows that training carried out by ProCare Training Cymru makes the difference and clearly is delivered to the highest standard. Here is Sara pictured furthest right with her award along with her certificate.

Beware companies who outsource training to Free-Lancers

We carry out training in-house for a very good reason, so that we can quality control the courses we deliver. A lot of training companies will outsource training to free-lancers outside of their works premises, the problem with this is you cannot oversee the training being carried out so how can you quality control the training that is being delivered? The simple answer is you cannot.

Free-Lance trainers want to tick all of the boxes and ship in and ship out people taking part on courses as quickly as possible and then get paid, the problem is are people receiving quality training. ProCare Training Cymru in-house training facility ensures that we deliver training to the highest standard teaching people life saving skills.

2000 people have attended our health and social training courses in 2019

ProCare Training Cymru train people around the clock from our in-house training facility. Not only do we train in-house but we also provide training off-site.

ProCare Training Cymru is a leading provider of training when it comes to care in Cardiff and Wales, with 2000 people attending our courses at our training facility this year alone is probably evidence enough.

When we approve new applications for care workers, we provide all of the training ready for new carers to enter the field of care. All carers have the option to go on and complete a QCF level 2 qualification in health and social Care. This qualification is being made compulsory for all carers to obtain in the not to distant future, making QCF qualifications in health and social care compulsory will only improve the standards of care being delivered out in the field.

We constantly talk about our in-house training facility, well we are not going to stop here, we pride ourselves on the quality of the training we provide and that is because we have all of the facilities that enables us to provide quality training.

Here are a few photos of a recent training course being taught at our in-house facility.

We have the advantage at ProCare Training Cymru. We carry out in-house training meaning we can quality control our training being delivered, we can ensure that training is carried out thoroughly.

A lot of care organisations in Wales and Cardiff will outsource training to free lancers and that training will be carried out off-site, the problem with this is training cannot be overseen or quality controlled, this means that carers could go away with out the skills and knowledge they need to provide quality care, this puts service users at risks from people with Mental Health conditions and vulnerable adults in older age.

We have award winning carers

Sara Wells is one of our senior care support workers. Sara works with service users who have dementia, dementia is an umbrella term for many forms of dementia from Alzheimer disease to frontotemporal dementia, Sara specialises in working with dementia patients.

In 2017 Sara received an award at the Wales Care Awards winning the category for “Excellence in Dementia Care”. Here is Sara pictured below furthest right with her award along with her certificate.

We invest in the best qualified nurses and carers that enable us to deliver first class health and social care.

ProCare Training Cymru have over 20 years experience delivering health and social care training to carers

ProCare Training Cymru is an arm of ProCare Nursing. We have been there and got the t-shirt when it comes to health and social care training. For over 20 years we have trained hundreds if not thousands of people in the health and social care sector. Today we are going to give you some very important advice with regards to training carers. Firstly ProCare Training Cymru carry out training in-house at our head offices and on-site at nursing and care homes.

When you approach a training provider always check how they train their carers, the question to ask is do you carry out training in-house or does training get outsourced. If the answer given is training is outsourced then this is a reason to be concerned.

The problem with outsourced training that is not located on-site is you cannot quality control the training being provided, there are a lot of free-lance trainers in the care sector who may have the qualifications but are just looking to make money. Free lancers want to ship in students and ship them out as quickly as possible to make money, the problem with this is you may end up with carers receiving inadequate training because the motive of the trainer is not correct.

We are not saying that all free-lance trainers are cowboys, but we are saying it is so very important that you are able to quality control training, when carers leave the training sessions and go into the field of caring they have to be fully equipped to care for vulnerable adults, which is why training is so important.

The good news is this, at our facility in Cardiff we quality control all training ensuring all carers are equipped to deal with any scenario out in the field. All of our trainers are checked for credentials such as seeing whether they have the relevant qualifications to carry out quality training.

We can teach and train carers a range of health and social care courses. Here are a few photos of our trainers teaching existing and new carers all of the latest most up-to-date information relating to care work.

We can provide training on an array of health and social care subjects. Here are the courses we run throughout the year both in-house and on-site.

Yes we do like to hear from those who have previous experience, however we also like to hear from people who have a caring and compassionate nature about them. Our care roles involve looking after some of the most vulnerable people in the community, that is why we need workers who have that caring streak in them.

We have won care awards past and present

We have been talking about the awards we have won recently. But we are not going to stop here, we have also won awards in the past. Here is a photo taken some time ago at Cardiff City Hall in 2014, one of our carers won a “Personal Carers” award pictured centre.

We also won an award at the Wales Care Awards in 2017. Sara Wells picked up the award for “Excellence in Dementia Care”. Here is Sara pictured furthest right with her award along with her certificate.

ProCare Nursing have worked very hard to ensure we provide only the best care to service users, the awards we have won are a reflection of that.

We are a health and social care agency with over 20 years experience

ProCare Nursing have been established for over 20 years. We formed our health and social care agency back in 1997 and have delivered health care services to both the public and private sector.

We train all of our carers to the highest standard

We win awards because we train all of our carers to the highest standards. We have our own in-house training facility where we quality control all of our health and social care courses. Here are a range of photos taken of recent courses teaching anything from first aid to conflict management and resolution.

A lot of health and social care agencies will out-source their training, the problem with this is you cannot ensure that training has been delivered thoroughly to the highest standard. What if you have a free-lance trainer who’s only intention is to get paid and make a fast buck, your carers are not going to be adequately trained, and carers who are not trained to the highest standard will not deliver high standard care in the field to service users.

We win awards because we deliver excellence in the field of care to service users. We have won awards both past and present and are striving to improve care standards being delivered by our health and social care agency.
